Experience Fatteh: A Delightful Middle Eastern Dish

Fatteh (Pita, hummus, and yogurt) made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 4 large pita breads
  • 1 cup hummus
  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cut the pita breads into triangles or strips.
  • Place the pita pieces on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Bake the pita in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While the pita bakes, prepare the hummus layer by mixing hummus with ground cumin and paprika.
  • In a bowl, mix the yogurt with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once the pita is crisp, layer it in a serving dish as the base.
  • Spread the spiced hummus over the pita in an even layer.
  • Top the hummus layer with the seasoned yogurt, spreading it lightly.
  • Finally, sprinkle the crispy pita with chopped parsley and drizzle with additional olive oil if desired.
